Janowa Dolina was a model settlement for workers of the Polish State Basalt Quarry in the 1920s and 1930s. As a proud example of the Second Republics modernization efforts it entered the newsreels of the time and came out on the Hungarian Filmhiradok Online in 2009. The settlement on the Czech border became the tragic scene of a mass murder within the Nazi Germany.
