Natural Gas Exploration Abandoned, Result May Help Geothermia
Hungary is one of the heaviest users of natural gas. Most of this gas is imported one way or another from Russia, but the country still has formidable domestic resources. A new field was found near Makó (by the Serbian border) a few years ago. The gas turned out to be extremely difficult to exploit with the current mining technologies, because the Budapest-based MOL and the American ExxonMobil, who have hired the Canadian specialist firm Falcon for the research have given up according to the news of Inforádió, Hungary.
The old natural mines of Hungary are attracting a different kind of industry. The old wells are very cost-efficient means to look for thermal water, and the old mining data may be used and exploited with some skills to find ideal locations for geothermic applications.
Our company has spent a lot of time to locate and clarify the legal status of such archive data, and also to exploit their information in a meaningful way. Some results will be published soon, the other will be available for our customers only.

Film Archive: Janowa Basalt Quarry
Janowa Dolina was a model settlement for workers of the Polish State Basalt Quarry in the 1920s and 1930s. As a proud example of the Second Republics modernization efforts it entered the newsreels of the time and came out on the Hungarian Filmhiradok Online in 2009. The settlement on the Czech border became the tragic scene of a mass murder within the Nazi Germany.
The text reads: How they make the cobbles? The Janowa Basalt Quarry in Poland produces the durable cobbles with an interesting and quick new procedure.
