Unemployment in Hungary

According to the latest data released by the HCSO, the Hungarian unemployment rate was 10.5% (+2.7 % from 2008) in November, while the employment rate was 55.6%. In a year 118,000 people lost their jobs. 43.3% of all unemployed people had been looking for a job for more than a year. The average time spent as 'unemployed' has somewhat fallen, probably due to short-term anti-crisis public works and people giving up on the labor market.

Wage Inflation in Slovakia

Despite the economic crisis and the massive unemployment, the Slovak government remained confident and raised the euro-denominated minimum wage by 4.1% to to €307.70 per month. However, it showed restraint with the salaries of the elected politicians. Expect wage inflation in all positions in the low-to-middle income range.
